5-Day Summer Retreat with Thai Meditation Masters, Luangpor Da Sammakhato, Ajahn Pikul, and Ajahn Tavivat Sukhavatthano (6/20/26 - 6/24/26)

from $100.00

A Weekend-Only Option is also available.

This retreat is highly recommended and provides an excellent opportunity to deepen your meditation practice by allowing you to cultivate self-awareness for an extended period under the guidance of true meditation masters. Luangpor Da will be joined by two experienced teachers that will be traveling from Thailand to lead the retreat.

This retreat is open to both beginning and experienced practitioners.

Teachers:

  • Luangpor Da is an ordained Thai Forest Monk who has been teaching for decades. He was a close student of Thai Master, Luangpor Teean, and is currently Abbott of our center in Redding, CT.

  • Ajahn Pikul is considered one of the leading female teachers in Luangpor Teean’s lineage. She has been practicing Mahasati Insight Meditation since meeting Luangpor Teean in 1987, and has established her own meditation center in Phayao, northern Thailand.

  • Ajahn Tavivat studied under Luangpor Teean as a lay practitioner. It is Ajahn Tavivat who first brought Luangpor Teean’s method of insight meditation to the United States more than 30 years ago. He is also the author of many publications in Thai and English including the book To One That Feels.

Dharma Talks and Q&A:

While the retreat will be conducted mainly in silence, there will also be Dharma talks and question and answer periods.

Private Interviews:

As is the tradition with meditation retreats, all attendees will have a private interview period with the teachers as a further aid to their practice.

Meals Provided:

Lunch and dinner will be provided on Saturday. Breakfast, lunch and dinner will be provided on Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday. Wednesday will include breakfast and lunch. Breakfasts will consist of breads, cereals, milks and fruit. A full Thai lunch will be served each day, and dinner will be soup and salad with bread and a selection of cheeses. A full kitchen is available for those who wish to bring their own food.

Lodging Options:

Many local attendees will probably choose to commute from home for this retreat, though there are a few beds at the Center that can be reserved on a first come basis by those traveling from afar. Out-of-town participants may also request a list of nearby accommodations by contacting Redding@CfMIM.org. Alternatively, there is space available on the grounds, for those who wish to pitch a tent, or inside on the floor for those who would like to “camp out” for the retreat.
